Farmhouse Design at Dover Creek

I had the pleasure of meeting Roz and Johnny at a client’s housewarming a year ago!  They both expressed how much they loved the decor in the design project I had completed.  We reconnected through a new project I was working on for another client who attended the same event.  We had an initial consultation over the phone to discuss a potential family room redesign.  We set an appointment for an in-person walkthrough and when we arrived at their home it was clear that the vision must include the beautiful views of the property!  Entering the home I could envision the look and feel of the space.  The sitting room adjacent to the kitchen is large in size, but still felt cozy and quaint.  The room was filled with character and design elements that I love.   The client asked if I thought she should change the upholstery on two chairs.  I quickly responded with “No, I love the look”!  I knew the client had been struggling to figure out what to do with the room, but in my head it was already done.  I’m sure she could see the spark in my eyes.  I love to mix patterns, textures and colors. One hour later this design project had expanded to painting four rooms, redesigning furniture and a redesign for two rooms.  Eager to get started, I selected the paint colors on the spot.  I chose colors that would brighten the spaces.  Fitting to the property, we chose farmhouse as the design style.  I knew the appropriate decor would add warmth and comfort to the rooms.  I was so excited about the project that I put together a full plan for the sitting room before I arrived back home.  My approach was to build off the elements in the room.  I wanted the pillows to draw from patterns in the rug.  Those beautiful plaid chairs had my adrenaline pumping, I knew the right plaid patterned drapes would be the showstopper.  Trusting my instinct with some additional weigh in from my design stylist, we both agreed it was the way to go!  This client has a love of floral patterns, so I helped her find the perfect modern balance to cozy up the family room space. I’m sure when I initially asked, how do you feel about cheetah, she was thinking, umm, how did we get here!  Her response was very subtle, as she said I don’t think that’s me in a nice way.  So, I waited until she finished her statement before I sent a photo of the floral/cheetah mix.  As soon as she saw the photo, she said “Oh, I love that!”  That was day one of you got this, proceed!  It is always a defining moment when clients are willing to explore options!   My team and I were ready to deliver once we procured the decor, ReDesigned furniture, and found the perfect side table to compliment the family room space. We arrived eager and ready to get to work. This project gave me life!  It had all the components of a transformation.  These clients were so great to work with and they expressed how much they love their ReDesigned spaces.  They now have their “Farmhouse Design at Dover Creek”!

Thanks to these wonderful clients for entrusting my team with restyling and antiquing their family heirlooms.  May this newly designed furniture create many more cherished family moments!

Special thanks for the courtesy project design photos and videos, Johnny and Roz W., Manakin-Sabot, VA

The "Seal of Approval"

While the homeowners await their reveal, Piper gives the "Seal of Approval" that this home is comfy and cozy and just what the family wanted!  All it took was a nice blanket covering to make this space feel warm and inviting.  Piper, is all for it!

Lorie and her team did a great job on our Farm House redesign. I initially asked Lorie to help us with one room but was so excited about her ideas and vision that I asked her to help with all the main living space. Lorie was great with ideas and also incorporating most of our original furniture and ensuring the space was dog friendly. My vision was to brighten the space and take advantage of the beautiful views of the backyard. I was a bit reluctant to paint my antique dining room table but it turned out to be one of my favorite pieces. The lighter colors brought out the beautiful details in the woodwork. I can’t thank Lorie and her team enough for turning the space into beautiful, comfortable and cozy living space. Lorie and her team were very professional and fun to work with😊
