From Dockside Drab to Dockside Fab!

Eye 4 ReDesign has gone dockside! This project was a collaboration between four partners and a vision for a new restaurant venture. The goal was to change the whole vibe of the restaurant and bar to give it an upscale feel. The clients left the interior design solely up to us for the design concept. We started out with paint colors for the interior and exterior. We chose an interior color that matched the existing flooring. For the outside we wanted a color that screamed shore vibe. The door had to have a pop of color accent. The next step was to design the interior. To provide an experience from the door, we wanted to add a feature wall, so we requested the clients to add a wall to close off a room that would serve as a wait staff section. Another addition was to add a 3 foot wall to create a sitting area where customers could wait for a table or just chill while enjoying the ambience of the space and tie the two areas together. Since dockside was the theme, we wanted to create an atmosphere where the theme resonated throughout the space. The wall decor was centered around pieces that connected the space to the area from waterways. Touches of brass adorned the space to give it a nautical feel. We knew a wine wall would be the perfect backdrop for the bar area and would set the tone for some additional elegance in the space.

Our Painter, Tori of LAB Painting and the other half of her 2-woman team were on point! They quoted 4.5 days to complete the project and they delivered! Cold breezy temps, with off-water wind pressure couldn’t stop this duo from getting the job done! They primed and painted the interior and painted the exterior transforming the look and feel. For the deck they provided pressure washing services. This set the tone for the design to come together. On design day, my team and I arrived with all the design items and decor to transform the space. First on the list was to install a feature wall with greenery, a custom hand painted wood sign signet and netting to give the feature wall a final touch. Social Media is a great marketing tool and having this at the door would provide a quick and easy way for customers to create a memory and share their experience. Next was the seating area that would become a fun casual space for customers to chill. The benches used in the seating area were not the right color (shade), but they were the right style and height to make the space functional. Thanks to Hilliard’s Painting for sanding the benches to show their natural beauty, so that they fit the decor and color scheme. In parallel to the setting up the seating area, the wine racks were installed.  Lights were added to the wine racks to give them some extra flair. The final touch was to add the wall decor and dress the tables with black tablecloths, rustic lantern candle centerpieces and brass salt and pepper shakers. As a special touch we were able to present the clients with their first earned $1, as two locals dropped by looking for a drink and were able to oblige them with soft drinks from the cooler. They happily signed the $1 bill on request knowing they would be the first customers of this new establishment. We were happy to take on this major commercial project and we transformed this place from Dockside Drab to Dockside Fab!

Special thanks to Opie & KD’s partners for entrusting us to complete this project!  We are excited and can't wait for for the Grand Opening!

Thank you for allowing us to share photos of this transformed commercial space.
